1.) What did you do in 2009 that you've never done before?

Found personal strength to hold my family together.

2.) Did you keep your New Year's resolutions?

I don't know. Normally, I never make them, but I am sure I was just hoping for things to get better.

3.) Did anyone close to you give birth?

No one in 2009.

4.) Did anyone close to you die?

No.

5.) What would you like to have in 2010 that you lacked in 2009?

More motivation.

6.) What did you do on vacation?

No vacation. I did go to St. Louis to watch the Cards with my hubby for a weekend and I went to a wedding in Oklahoma and I went to a conference in San Antonio.

7.) What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Surviving

8.) What was your biggest failure?

I didn't fail.

9.) Did you suffer illness or injury?

Both...multiple times.

10.) What did you get really, really, really excited about?

Dann's wedding and then Elisha's wedding.

11.) What was the best thing you bought?

In 2009? I think I like the tanning bed the best so far and hopefully the treadmill will become a fav. so I can lose some flab.

12.) What day from 2009 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

None will be etched.

13.) Where did most of your money go?

Bills....the boys...my spoiled rotten self..

14.) What song will always remind you of 2009?

Rise Above This- Seether.

15.) Compared to this time last year, are you:

• Happier or sadder? A lot happier
• Thinner or fatter? WAY fatter
• Richer or poorer? technically richer cuz I got a raise..woot!woot!

16.) How did you spend Christmas?

Christmas Eve with KC's dad and Christmas morning at home and Christmas night at my sister's with my mom's fam.

17.) What do you wish you'd done more of?

Being more organized

Being so hard on myself

19.) What was your favorite month of 2009 and why?

Probably September. We had a lot of fun in September even though it was busy. I traveled a lot, I got to see Elisha, I had fun!

20.) What was your greatest musical discovery?

hmm, I am not sure I had any..

21.) What concerts did you attend?

Jason Aldean and Nickleback....(not together obviously)....Both were great.

22.) What was the best book you read?

Twilight Saga...hahaha..That's all I've read this year ...oh and Marley and Me. I loved that book too.

23.) What did you want and get?

I got everything I wanted. I wanted an iPod and I got it, alonmg with a bunch of other stuff.

26.) What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?

I turned 27. I went out with my husband to dinner and then he and Bittle bought me drinks. I made some new friends that night because none of mine were able to come out.

27.) What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?

My sons. They make each year great.

28.) How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2009?

Cover the fattness to the best of your ability.

29.) What kept you sane?

My faith and my children. (Foundations of my life)

30.) Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?

Eric Dane and Taylor Lautner

31.) What political issue stirred you the most?

War, as always.

32.) What was a much needed change?

Prespective.

33.) Who did you miss?

Not really any one person.

34.) Who was the best new person you met/got closer to?

Cindy and Amy

35.) Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2009:

No matter how hard life gets, you have the power to prevail. You just look inside yourself, don't ask why, just know that with a little bit of faith and a whole lot of hope, you can get back up, dust yourself off, and say, 'Bring it!".

& on a less serious note

So, when Diamond and I were at the vet waiting for the blood work to be processed, she was lying there, head down, playing the part of a truely sick doggie when another dog starts howling like it is some serious pain. She lifted her head up in like .2 seconds, ears raised, and looks at me like, "What the hell are they doing to that dog? You better not let them do that to me." I had to laugh. It was so funny.

One Sick Puppy

My puppy, Diamond, recently got really sick. She hadn't shown any signs of illness and then within a week, she lost lots of weight. I first noticed she wasn't eating last week but KC said I was overfeeding her and that because of the rain, she wasn't eating mushy/ wet food. But, I kept dumping out the mushy rained on food and putting in new, finally after a couple of days of no rain, I realized she really was not eating. I got her canned food and she ate it but still got sicker. My dad kept telling me that I shouldn't spend money on the vet because they would overcharge me and she probably wasn't as sick as I thought. Well, I felt like she was dying. She looked awful. She was lethargic and not herself. My husband had me convinced that some skin tags she had must be cancerous and yesterday I spent most of the day crying. I never, ever thought I would be so upset about an animal. I had pets growing up and I cared about them. I cried over a few, but I've never been overly attached. I by no means spoil Diamond. She has taken a back burner to my boys. But, seeing her this way broke my heart and I suddenly realized that she's such an important part of this family that I cannot imagine life without her in it. Last night, Clayton goes, "Mommy, if Diamond is sick, then who will keep the coyottes out of our yard? I'll be scared." She's our guardian. We all feel safer with her and even now, knowing that makes me tear up. I understand why people cry over pets now, because very rarely in life can you find a human to be so devoted and loyal, to love you conditionally, and be willing to die for you.

O.k. and before everyone panics thinking my loyal guardian is deathly ill. I took her to the vet early this morning. Her white blood cells were high but she has whipworms and heart worms. The heart worms cannot be treated until the whipworms are gone which will be in three weeks. She was dehydrated and so they put an iv in her leg and sent me home with a bag of fluids. I have to sit with her for an hour twice a day for the next few days giving her fluids. I flush the line and put the needle into the iv myself. If you knew how much I hate needles, you would know this is a big deal for me. I keep telling myself the dirty work (putting iv in) is done and its not a big deal because I am helping her, not hurting her. If she does not get better after treating these two things then we have to run more tests and take exrays. I am hoping this is it.

I know heart worms can be prevented. She has been on the medicine in the past, but since we live in a rural area and Diamond is never out of her fenced in yard, our house, or presence, the likelihood of her getting these things seemed small. Also, whipworms can be prevented, but something important to know is that not all heart worm medicine contains the medicine for whipworms, so if you have a doggie you might want to check that out. So, the vet thinks a stray wandering through probably is the cause of all of these issues. And recently someone did dump a stray on our road. In fact in August and September lots of animals kept showing up out here. Well, the vet thinks that most likely a stray stopped and, you know, doodied in my yard and left these nasty parasites.

Yuck!

No more excavating in the backyard boys. (the boys like to get their toys and dig in the yard).

More background on why I will be beside myself when Diamond has to leave me:

Diamond was given to me by my husband right before he purposed to me. The full surprise ended up being ruined by the guy who was selling her calling KC while I was with him. But, the original plan was for little black and tan Diamond to deliver me a ring tied around her neck with a big red bow. Well, because the man called and ruined the surprise, Diamond never made that debut, but I did get to go pick her out (and later, I got to pick out a ring as well). She was the happy, clumsy one who bounded for me first so I took her and we've never looked back. I have a picture of her with me on my wedding, I brought two baby boys home to meet her, and she's loved each of them just as she loves me because they are mine and I am hers. She turned seven on October 17th (just this past Saturday). She's our loyal guardian. She's my Diamond, because "diamonds are a girl's best friend."
